21 April 2015Beth other side of judging desk for dancing competition

Olympic gymnast and Dancing on Ice Champion Beth Tweddle is taking to the floor in a different role this week, as judge at the glittering Claire House Does Strictly event.

Beth will rate eight Chester business people come amateur dancers and their professional partners, crowning one pair the Claire House Does Strictly Champions.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, April 25 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, aims to raise over £40,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice, providing care, support and choice for families with terminally ill children.

Of her new role as judge, Beth said: “I’m so used to being the one who gets judged, I can’t wait to be on the other side of that desk, seeing what our competitors can do. When I was on Dancing on Ice, I know what it’s like to be out of your comfort zone; the amateur dancers are doing something completely different to their everyday lives. But for such an amazing cause, I hope it spurs them on to do their very best. I can’t wait to see what they’ve learnt.”

Participants in the event include directors from Chester-based law firm Aaron and Partners, Humphreys Estate Agents, Azzure Travel, RBS and Otto in Tarporley, who will all compete for the coveted crown.

The dancers and their partners have had just four months to master their routines before taking to the floor in front of Beth and over 300 spectators.

Hoping to wow on the night is Phil McKeown, Partner at legal firm Hillyer McKeown. Phil said; “I agreed to take part because it seemed like a good fun – if exhausting – way to make some money for Claire House, a charity which has always been close to my heart.

“Also, I have to admit that I like the TV programme and have always wanted to have a bash.”
