Beth has put Little Lever pupils through their paces.

Bowness Primary School welcomed the medal-winning gymnast for a special assembly inspiring 140 youngsters into thinking fit.

The World Champion, from Bunbury in Cheshire, talked about the importance of gymnastics and keeping fit, healthy eating and how to have fun being active.

Much to the delight of youngsters, she even showed off her own gold-medalist skills, performing a walking handstand around the stage.

Gareth Mottram, Bowness Primary School business manager, said: "The children were absolutely in awe.

"It was great for the school and more importantly, the children.

"It was a lovely inspiring morning and hopefully inspired the children to go on and be gymnasts like Beth. It was great to see a personality like Beth in the school."

Following the presentation — which included a video of Beth competing in some of the world's greatest gymnastic competitions — the pupils were tested on what they had learnt.

Impressive pupils received a special signed card from the gymnast.

The 30-year-old — who has won 12 World Cup, and World and European Championship medals, as well as a bronze medal in 2012 Olympic Games — visited the school as part of the Total Gymnastics schools programme.
