7 December 2015Balmoor gymnasts and coaches meet Olympic gymnast Beth!
Beth lead three training workshops for the Balmoor gymnasts of ages from 5 to 17 giving the gymnasts expert training, guidance and words of wisdom from her years of competing in the sport.
The gymnasts all took part in an invigorating warm up with the Olympian before heading on to the 4 pieces of apparatus (Floor, Beam, Bars and Vault).
The gymnasts all had the chance to show Beth what they had been working on while in their class and learn a new thing or two from the champion herself.
Each session was rounded off with photographs, autographs and, of course a few ‘Selfies’ with Beth.
Beth was a natural with the gymnasts, every one was delighted to meet her and the club would gladly welcome Beth back to Balmoor again!
This once in a lifetime opportunity to be trained by an Olympic champion was made possible by the fundraising efforts of the club.
Just last month they had their annual Christmas Shopping Night which was very well attended and supported by the club parents and local traders/businesses.
Their fundraising team have also been circulating ‘Bonus Ball’ sheets for the chance to win an iPad and Milano vouchers.
The club has also received generous donations from local companies/charities including the ‘Blue Light Festival’ in Fraserburgh where some of the girls performed a display this year.
The club coaches said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents, helpers and supporters for their continued support of the club.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteer coaches who give up their free time to train, making it possible for all abilities/ages to take part in the sport.”
