Even from the age of 12, I felt sure that my future would involve gymnastics. I had started when I was 7 and was on the national team by the time I moved to secondary school, at 11. I often spent time away from the classroom as I needed weeks off at a time for competitions.

Former Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle shares sporting insights with York College students
AN OLYMPIC medal-winner visited York to share her sporting and studying experiences in the hope of inspiring others. Gymnast Beth Tweddle, who claimed bronze in the uneven bars final at last year's London Games, was invited to York College through old school ties with one of its tutors, as she spoke about how sport science had played a key role in her career.
